THE KATE NELSON TRIO

Friday, October 27th, 2006, 7:30 pm

On October 27th, St. Augustine?s becomes a venue for an American "Coffee House". The coffee house tradition started back in the 1950s with the Beat generation, which discovered that it only took a singer and a guitar (?unplugged?, as we would say these days) and an audience in a cosy atmosphere to create a relaxing evening of music. In later decades, churches opened their basements to folk musicians, providing a friendly, non-threatening, casual venue, catering to audience members who may not have otherwise considered going to a church.

With its building expansion plan, St. Augustine?s dreams of having such a church basement some day. In the meantime, the sanctuary will be transformed for a magical evening of music featuring the Kate Nelson Trio. Supported by Marita Schmitt (piano) and Helga Sebastian (bass), Kate Nelson will be singing songs by Carol King, Nina Simone, Oleta Adams, as well as her own compositions.

Come and relax to music and a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. The music starts at 7:30 pm.

Tickets: 10,00 € / 7,00 € (students, seniors)

Tickets are available at the door, on in advance from

Musikalien Petroll,
