Erika le Roux was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. She studied piano and
violin before deciding to concentrate entirely on her piano career. In 1982
she was the youngest prize winner in the history of the International Piano
Competitions in Pretoria and Montevideo. She established herself as one of
the most prominent pianist personalities in South Africa, often featured in
television, radio and studio recordings. Erika not only performed as
soloist with all of the major symphony orchestras in South Africa, but is
one of the busiest chamber musicians and Lied accompanists of her
generation. In 1992 she was awarded the Grand Prix Panafricaine by UNESCO.
In 1994 Erika le Roux came to Wiesbaden and soon established herself as a
sought-after pianist, accompanist and coach. Prominent singers who work
with her on a regular basis on Opera and Lieder include Nadine Secunde,
Eike Wilm Schulte, Keith Ikaia Purdy, Sue Patchell and others. She has
appeared at international festivals in Germany and in major concert halls
throughout the country and has also been a lecturer at Mainz and
Saarbrücken University.
As opera coach she counts more than 100 operas in her repertoire, ranging

Modern through Avant-garde. As Lied accompanist she has performed the
