"BEWITCHED, BOTHERED AND BEWILDERED"

Saturday, February 7, 2004, 7:30 pm

Performed by Tami Jantzi and Erika le Roux

Tami Jantzi and Erika le Roux treated a full house to an evening of love songs from two centuries and continents. After her moving rendition of Robert Schumann's cycle "Frauenliebe und Leben", Tami did a tribute to her love of food (the artist's own words!) with Bernstein's "La Bonne Cuisine". As Tami gave us the musical instructions for preparing dishes such as rabbit stew, Erika's fingers danced over the keys.

The second half of the concert featured works by American composers, starting with "Four Favorites" by Samuel Barber. The "Gershwin Sandwich" was a crowd-pleaser. "Dessert" consisted of two songs by contemporary composer William Bolcolm-"Toothbrush Time" and "Amor". The audience insisted on encores and was
rewarded with "Summertime" from the opera "Porgy and Bess" and another rendition of "Amor", clearly pianist Erika's favourite.

We'll certainly be hearing more from Tami Jantzi, a newcomer to the Wiesbaden musical scene with world-class experience.
